Soul Cafe is excited to share the news that Port of Newcastle is again partnering with Soul Cafe in 2017.
In 2016 Port of Newcastle provided much needed meat and perishable supplies, plus vital storage units for the kitchens’ dry storage facility.
In 2017 Port of Newcastle continues to provide for the poor and needy in their local community through a $10,800 partnership with Soul to supply food and food related supplies.
Soul Cafe provides hundreds of meals a week to disadvantaged members of the Newcastle community, many of whom are homeless or tackling difficult drug, alcohol, abuse or criminal challenges. These meals provide an avenue for Soul Cafe staff and volunteers to connect with the vulnerable and provide them with other services or support they may require.
These ongoing services are only made possible thanks to key partnerships with the community, and Port of Newcastle’s support is vital in continuing Soul Cafe’s life-changing work.
“Like many Novocastrians, I appreciate the tremendous contribution that local groups and organisations, such as Soul Cafe, make to our community,” said Port of Newcastle CEO, Geoff Crowe.
“I have appreciated from a closer perspective the passionate and heartfelt work that the Soul Cafe have carried out for many years. Port of Newcastle is proud to support the Soul Cafe so that it can continue to provide fresh food and services for disadvantaged members of our community.”
