Christmas & New Year's Highlights!
Soul Cafe Newcastle is excited to announce that because of the overwhelming generosity of local businesses & individuals, we received over $60,000 in donations during our Christmas and New Year Appeal!!
The Christmas and New Year period is challenging for those dealing with issues of homelessness and family breakdown due to mental health and substance abuse. Thus, we appreciate the support of our community exceedingly and thank you again for helping us help others!
Thanks to our major sponsor Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group, Newcastle Limousines and the generosity of the community, our Soul Christmas Luncheon was held on Wednesday the 20th December. We served over 300 magnificent Christmas dinners and gave out hundreds hampers, gift packs, handbags and toys during our Christmas Luncheon!
We have now given out over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period a total of 400 Christmas / Holiday Food Packs plus 200 takeaway meals. Soul Cafe was also back to normal operating hours from the 2nd of January, and were one of the few services that catered for those in need of assistance. The guests have been saying how thankful they are to us for being open as it has been a difficult time for them.
We would also like to thank CPB (Contractors Project Engineer), Jim Mackenzie, Roger & Angela Blanch, Osborn Law, Australian Rail Track Corporation, KMART Waratah, ORICA, SafetyWorks Hunter Street, Disability Advocacy, NSW Health Pathology, BWS and so many individual community members for their generous donations this Christmas.
Thank you for standing by Soul this Christmas and Holiday season!
Rick, Sue and the team at Soul Cafe!
