Our items vary day to day from fresh produce to snacks and sometimes treats and we want to share them with you.

Fortnightly Sunday - Free hot meal lunch from noon (provided in takeaway containers with plastic cutlery). Alternate with Soul Café.


Samaritans Emergency Food

Samaritans are only providing ER support from Cessnock, Broadmeadow, and Toronto at the moment. Most services are doing a telephone interview first.

Survivors R Us (4953 7108) - 1/3 Ranton St, Cardiff NSW 2285

Providing service to people who are homeless and/or experiencing DV primarily however will help anyone.

  • Donated clothes available for the public. Clothes also made on sight.
  • Food hampers available for free.
  • People who can afford it will pay $14.
  • Op shop available as well.
  • Tuesday and Thursdays there are counsellors available by appointment only.
  • Best way to make an appointment is to call reception 4953 7108. All workers are volunteers. (There is only one counsellor willing to attend the service at the moment due to COVID as all counsellors are volunteers)
  • Counsellors are general in modality mostly surrounding domestic violence.


Hope UC

  • Tuesday and Wednesdays – 9am-3pm. tel:0249437377
  • Feed bank available for access to cheaper food on Wednesday afternoons – pantry items.
  • Hampers organised for people – 8 weeks wait –attend the service, or contact the service via phone to access this. – One hamper per household.
  • Can contact the church if a family needs something specific.
  • Normally provide EAPA vouchers at Newcastle campus (no appointments available now due to COVID-19)
  • Wednesday afternoons do free meals and laundry service for community members. (not happening during COVID-19).


Maitland Neighbourhood Centre

The operations of Maitland Neighbourhood Centre during COVID is as follows.

MNC are still open and offering:

  • Pre-cooked meals (for immune-compromised, older people, families)
  • Oz Harvest (Monday and Friday afternoons from 2:00pm)
  • Emergency food relief (basic food hampers incl. cereal / milk / pasta etc)
  • EAPA assistance (appointments available via phone or face to face)
  • JP service (by appointment – call the office to arrange a time)
  • They are still offering information and referral, however this is limited due to service availability.


Food Wars

  • Mini shopping centre with groceries at low prices
  • Bread (free), milk, rice, pasts, fresh fruit and veg once a week. Staples
  • Health care/pension card
  • 2 people in the shop at a time
  • Four locations - Beresfield, Hamilton, Cessnock, Raymond Terrace
  • Cessnock, Raymond Terrace – not open on Mondays
  • Membership allows access to all four sites and is provided to people upon arrival.


Swansea Community College - 2-8 Pacific Highway, Swansea

  • Free bread, fruit and veg
  • Oz Harvest every Wednesdays after 2pm- Fresh fruit and veg.


ADRA – Singleton Food Pantry – 6 Doyle Street, Singleton

  • Every Tuesday between 1pm – 2:30pm out of the church in Singleton.
  • Food bank – pantry items, vegetables, fruit, pasta etc.
  • Bread and vegetables from Second Bites.
  • Anyone can attend however it is a $10 fee to attend.
  • Currently reverted to pre-packaged bags and are restricting numbers to one person at a time to collect food etc due to COVID.


BaptistCare, Hope Street services

Assistance with brokerage, EAPA, electricity and GAS by appointments.  Financial Counselling, gambling counselling.

Services for assistance are by phone interview, email or come to the door (intercom interview) to ensure social distancing and all COVID-19 guidelines are adhered to.

Singleton Neighbourhood Centre/Open Door
