Meet Helen

Helen's not one to take a break, the first thing she did after retiring was applying to become a Soul volunteer. Now she's an incredible asset to our reception crew.

Helens a wife of 51 years, a mother to 3 children and a grandmother to 4. The first thing she did once she retired (only 3 months ago) was applying to become a volunteer at Soul Hub, now she is volunteering at reception each Wednesday.

“I keep coming because I like being in this happy family environment”.

How has Soul Hub impacted you?

It made me think different about our vulnerable people, I am not as dismissive of the homeless anymore. It has given me a great attitude of gratitude.

What’s your favorite Soul story?

A guest had all of his clothes and suitcase stolen and he came in to get some clothes as all he had left were the clothes on his back. It felt so satisfying being able to help him.

“It’s been an incredible opportunity for personal growth and contributing to our community.”
