Sleepout raised over $200,000!

On Friday 27th May the Bolton St carpark hosted nearly 380 people for Sleepout for Soul 2022. As the sun set over one of Newcastle’s most scenic rooftops sleepers gathered on the roof and the night got underway.

We danced to our awesome live muso Crocq (which included many intense dance-offs), listened to our CEO Rick discuss the future of Soul, took part in a fun and heated auction that raised over $2,500! Sleepers were also treated to catered tours of Soul Café and before bed snacked on pizza and doughnuts. There were also fire pits, delicious food for purchase thanks to the Rotary Club of Wallsend-Maryland, plenty of games and a whole lot of family fun. It was a great night of true community.

During the night local legend Garth Russel hosted a live Zoom alongside Soul advocate Jodi O’Connor. The Zoom featured heart-warming guest stories, interviews with Soul volunteers & sleepers and plenty other special features. The virtual Sleepout concluded with a live broadcast of Rick’s speech. Soul is excited to announce that our 2022 Sleepout for Soul raised over $200,000 becoming the biggest Sleepout fundraiser in our history and smashing our initial goal of $175,000. So we wanted to thank each and every one of you who donated and helped us surpass our goal. At Soul we believe anyone who contributes is a hero, whether it’s a can of beans or thousands of dollars, everyone who gives to Soul is a hero in our eyes including our major sponsor INSYNC building & design.
