Vaughan

Vaughan has been volunteering at Soul for more than 2 years now. He has a huge heart,
full of compassion for vulnerable people and he has a real gift for connecting relationally with guests. On a breakfast shift you will usually find Vaughan sitting at tables chatting to guests.

What prompted you to join Soul as a volunteer?

I’ve always felt the need to reach out and help people that are less fortunate than myself.

Why do you want to help people that are less fortunate than yourself?

Because many of those less fortunate than myself did not choose to be in the vulnerable situation they find themselves in and many just need someone to care and offer them a hand up.

Volunteering is so valuable. Life is not always easy and volunteering has become such a big part of my own self-care.

How has volunteering at Soul contributed to your life?

Volunteering is so valuable. Life is not always easy and volunteering has become such a big part of my own self-care. Volunteering at Soul really puts in perspective how well I have it in life. No matter how bad I am feeling, I always reflect on my experiences at Soul for perspective.

Meet our volunteers

Our wonderful family of volunteers make Soul Café what it is. They bring the heart, the fun, the compassion, the skills, and experience and each and every one makes a difference to the lives of our guests.
